Residential Area:
A two car garage, (for full sized vehicles) and large workshop area is
between the apartment entrance door and the door to the screen enclosed
lanai and pool area
(photo 19),and on into the main residence.
The entry hall into the residence leads direct to the second floor
(Photo

(Photo

A right turn off the entrance hall leads to a large kitchen
(Photo51) &
(Photo54)
with plenty of counter space, cabinets and drawers. A window over the sink
offers a view of the Laina and pool area. The kitchen has a double bi-fold
doors that open to the laundry closet, with shelving and space for a washer
and a dryer. The floor of the laundry closet is fiberglass with a drain into
the bay. This will prevent possible damage from a broken water hose, or
washing machine tub overflow.
The guest bedroom
(Photo) is also off the entrance hall.
Floor covering of the a hall, bathroom and kitchen is white ceramic tile.
The carpeted family room
(Photo 46) is also entered from the entrance hall.
The family room has a window view to the west side and the bay front, plus
sliding glass door access to the bay front,
Off the family room is the dinning room
(Photo 40) &
(Photo41)
with direct access to
the kitchen. It also has a sliding glass door with bay front view and
access. The floor covering is old, distressed heart pine. It is tongue and
grove, blind nailed and glued, and was salvaged from the original fisherman
squatter shack that once occupied the land. The dinning room has leaded
glass doors, lighted display cabinet and levered doors that enclose storage
shelving for: china, silver, liquor bottles, table cloths, etc.
The residence bay front
(Photo 24) has a large fiber glassed deck,
approximately 38' X 8'
which is half covered by the overhang of
the second floor.
Upstairs is another wide (four feet) hallway.
To the right is a bedroom
(Photo2).
Across the hall, a small office,
(Photo 0022) that could easily be converted
into another bedroom with the addition of a closet. Space for the closet
would come from the former hall entrance that was used to access
the guest apartment!
A second room, with a wash sink, was used as a computer room and also housed
our pet lovebirds.
Next is a small music alcove
(See photo) with an iron spiral staircase
leading to the roof.
The roof (Photo 0008) is nearly flat with a slight pitch to the west side.
Views from the rooftop always bring "ahhhh's" from guests.
(See
photo) Five drain pipes empty rainwater directly into
the Bay. The drain pipes, and the roof, are designed, in the event of a
water shortage, to serve as a large capacity collection and storage area for
rain water. .The roof surface is constructed of polyester fiberglass:
chopped mat, 22 ounce woven cloth, and two layers of additional mat. A white
gel coat finish protects the fiberglass from eventual degradation by the
sun. The gel coat also reflects much of the sun's heat from entering the
house. In 2005, a maintenance application of gel coat was re-applied. To
maintain the roof in continually good condition, a coat of white gel should
be rolled on the surface about every 10-12 years. With a long wood extension
handle attached to the roller, it's a stand-up job!. If the roof were
constructed of hot tar and rolled roofing it would have to be maintained
every 3-4 years.
The roof top, all, or a portion, could be screen enclosed and used for:
entertainment, as a garden, or a sports area: putting green, croquette, bad
mitten, etc. etc. For architectural effect, and safety reasons (so as not to
fall off the roof), there are two elevated overhangs running lengthwise, and
extending along both sides of the roof. One of the overhangs is used to
support the solar roll which heats the pool.
The bathroom, (toilet and sink) with an in-between tub and shower, and
another attached bathroom, is across from the music alcove.

The second bathroom
(Photo 223) serves the master bedroom.
The spacious master bedroom
(Photo

(
Photo 228), offers window views to the west
and to the Bay. It has a cedar lined (including the ceiling), walk-in closet
(Photo 0018). The master bedroom opens into a large formal living room, which
could easily be converted into another large bedroom?.
The living room
(Photo 73) has a large sliding glass door which opens into a
screen enclosed porch (fotos 84 & 74) that overlooks the dock, our sailboat
(Photo 75)
(which is also For Sale and can be seen at:
www.ketch4sail.com
and the Bay beyond. From the screen enclosed porch you can access a fiber
glassed deck.
The fiber glassed deck is approximately 6' X 80'
(Photo 0016). The deck area
protects the area below from sun and rain. The deck is protected by an
aluminum hand railing.
